I love this time of the year…the picking of the fresh berries, sampling tomatoes still warm from the sun, fresh cucumbers and radishes and lettuces and kale and so many more..makes your mouth water thinking of all the goodness that comes from the soil! My jam jars are filling…what next can I preserve?

Niagara on the Lake Ice Wine Festival
Yesterday we decided to check out the Ice Wine Festival and we truly had an incredible afternoon, sampling all the various wineries in the Niagara on the Lake area. It was cold, but that did not keep us from enjoying the afternoon with Bob and Mary. One of the iciest things we saw was a “20 ft ice bar” with ice wine bottles frozen into the top. The Epicurian had this amazing chocolate tart with freshly roasted nuts and caramel. The ice wine gelato was superb. And of course we came home with a bottle of Joseph’s Vidal Ice Wine 2002!
The first weekend in January 2014 comes to a close….
